Blairing sound – west philly

Our friend C.J. Blair is nearly finished assembling a studio in west philly in an amazing and historic old building. Brandon and I stopped in for a short visit yesterday and are hoping the whole band will be there sometime soon. Thanks CJ!

Forgive the randomness of this batch of photos. We’ve been busy and I’d rather just post these than organize them.  After our mini tour I headed to Montreal with Rachel, Georgia and our friends John and Andrew for vacation and the Montreal Jazz festival. Montreal is great and has some the best music stores I’ve ever been in. Their stores have an amazing selection of boutique gear and an incredibly knowledgeable staff. I picked up a Micro Pog and Hall of Fame reverb from Moog Audio while I was there. (not that these are so hard to come by but I hadn’t had a chance to actually try them and Andrew at Moog gave me an excellent deal)  I’m really enjoying them so far.

other pics include:

Random Alley – Montreal

Local 23 – Vintage shop in Mile End, Montreal

Spiderman – we stayed above a comic book shop

Adironacks – Lower Cascade Lake

Montreal –  Cafe Olimpico, St. Joseph’ s Oratory, Mile End, Casa Del Popolo (great little cafe/bar where arcade fire had their EP release)

Last night at Johnny Brenda's, Turning Violet Violet played a kick-ass set. They recently released their EP, Double Cure about a month ago and had their record release party at Kung Fu Necktie. A swedish band entitled The Deer Tracks opened for them, they had quite a gothic appearance but a very soft rock appeal.

The five-piece chamber rock group, TVV played songs old and new, a good amount from their release.
